SUPER BOWL

Wow another great weekend of playoff football in the books. Another good week for my picks so far this post season I’ve only missed one game and that was the Titans/Ravens game. So that brings my record to 9-1 this post season Before I reveal my super bowl pick The two teams that are in the Super Bowl this year I ususally route for both of them in Arizona and Pittsburgh. I am first a Steelers fan and like the Giants, Cardinals, and the Texans. Those teams have qualities in thier orginization that I like and respect. First the Arizona Cardinals. The NFC west champions a went 9-7 and made the playoffs as the 4 seed. They beat the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, and the Philidelphia Eagles on route to the Super Bowl. My favorite player on the team is Larry Fitzgerald. He is a differance maker and will help a mediocre team become a great team. Now to all opf you that say the cardinals are not great. Greatness is measured when the games count the most. So Kurt Warner will not buckle under the pressure of the top rated defense in the NFL

The Steelers were the AFC north champions and held a 12-4 record and two postseason wins against the streaking San Diego Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers are my favorite team so I am a little bias but they have arguably the best defense ever. They were able to hold all opponents under 300 total offensive yards and were number one in all defensive categories except for run defense were they were number two behind the Ravens. Ben Roethlisberger was a big issue this year with struggling and injuries he silenced critics and helped the steelers win big football games with poise and confidence. that’s something you can’t teach. And don’t forget Troy Polamalu he is a character with his long hair  but don’t let that fool you he is a tough son of a bitch.

So my prediction the Steelers defense will contain the Arizona offense just enough to pull out the win. I’m guessing a 23-17 Steelers win And Super Bowl MVP Ben Roethlisberger, Heads for the coin flip, and an NFC win in the pro bowl

thats all for today

EVREYWHERE WE GO PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW…

Photobucket

Remember the titans starring Denzel Washington and Will Patton is a drama about the TC WILLIAMS HIGH SCHOOL football team and the hardships thy faced through their first season playing with both white and black students. The movie is a sport drama but it does have some funny parts and well since it’s football week lets dive in. The movie is based on the true story of the high school in the early 70’s that began to integrate white and black students together. The movie truly is great and the acting performances in it were amazing. Denzel Washington amazing in this movie. He plays coach Herman Boone and definitely one of his top two performances ever. I would go on to say that the only role I think he did better was his role in Training Day. Well anyways back to the movie. With these students who have been brought up to be who they are and not as one race human race. The whites hate the blacks and the blacks hate the white. There are a few characters in the movie that don’t feel that way in particular Louie Lastick (Ethan Suplee) who is a heavy set white kid who is a lineman and has an interest in soul music. Once he opens up his soul others around him start opening up and then after the toughest training camp ever they come together as one unit. When they go back to school the world tries to tear them apart again, but theirs one problem the team has bonded and stand up together and say no. My big shock while trying to find out info about the movie Hero’s star Hayden Panittiere play coach Ned Yoast little daughter. The movie has an inspirational message that every person can get something out of it. In the words of MJ no not Micheal Jordan (HINT FOR TOMMOROW) MICHEAL JACKSON “IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU’RE BLACK OR WHITE” here’s a clip

Check out the movie and don’t forget to watch the nfl playoffs. Good luck to all of the teams playing except the ravens and chargers. Go Steelers,  Go Giants hope you all have a great weekend and tommorow

FOOTBALL’S 80 PERCENT MENTAL 40 PERCENT PHYSICAL

Photobucket

Now Let’s just talk about this movie which is quite arguably the greatest kids movie of all time. Little Giants starring Rick Moranis (Honey I Shrunk The Kids) and Ed O’Neil (Married With Children) are two brothers who live in Urbania. The older brother Kevin O’Shea (O’Neil) owns a car dealership and is a local hometown football hero as well as coach of the cowboys in the pop Warner league. Younger brother Danny is the owner of a local gas station which is a staple in the community. Kevin always looked up to Danny but was never allowed to play. Years later the boys are all grown up and have kids. Kevin had a little girl named Becky “ICEBOX” O’Shea. He had to raise her alone after her mother died and he raised her to be a tough guy and not an elegant girl. After the tryouts for the Cowboys and she is not picked by her uncle because of gender reasons she starts her own team coached by her dad. Now the bunch of rejects are formed into the Giants. Now everyone in football knows that the Giants and Cowboys are bitter rivals. Some of the kids are too fat, too slow not athletic enough. After a trip to the grocery store they find a boy who is a great quarterback and not playing football. The boys are impressed while Becky well she has the hots for him. Him being the dreamy Devon Sawa. He decides to join the team and now they are coming together to play a big game vs the cowboys to see which team will be represented in the league. Well situations in the movie arise and well I won’t ruin it for you but it’s good. IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THIS MOVIE GET OFF YOUR DUFF AND GET IT NOW. This was my favorite childhood movie.  There are a lot of cameos in the movie like Emmit Smith, Steve Emtman, Bruce Smith, Tim Brown, and John Madden who gave the most creative play idea called that’s right “THE ANNEXATION OF PUERTO RICO” oh yeah I’m a nerd i know thank you no applause needed. What else can I say about this movie like Hot Hands  a great movie if your a parent get it for your kids if you are not a parent get it for your self  as always here’s a clip

Awesome 10 minutes there love it live it over again and again Til next time remember what Emmit said

“I wasn’t the biggest, or the tallest but I knew deep down inside that I was a Giant.”

p.s GOOD CALL EMMIT SHOULD’VE PLAYED FOR THE GIANTS THEN DUMMY!!!!!!!!!

THE FIGHTING ARMADILLO’S

Photobucket

Necessary Roughness is a foot ball movie made in 1991 and it center the Texas State Fighting Armadillos. The team has been ruled by the NCAA ineligible to play. So the university has to field a team of players well that can pass NCAA regulations. Starring Scott Bakula as Paul Blake an aging farmer who took over the family business after his father died is recruited by Assitant Coach Wally Rig (Robert Loggia) to play quarterback for this team and maybe give Blake one last shot at football glory. Met by skeptisicm from legendary Head Coach Ed Genero (Hector Elizando) they play him and a group of rag tag players. Also in the movie Andre Krimm (Sinbad) who is a teacher there decides to join Blake when  they find out he has one year of eligibility left to play. Also in the move Larry Miller who plays Dean Phillip Elias is the evil guy who sets the team out to fall flat on it’s face. On top of those players they have a big samoan center Manumana, a girl place kicker Lucy Draper, a zen force nicknamed Samurai, a running back nicknamed fumbilina, and a kid who’s dad is a university supporter who is just not at a college level in academics and athletics. The movies has Rob Schnieder (The Animal, Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo) as Chuck Neiderman the color commentator who adds his own twist to the way a game is called. With a cast of football personalitie including Dick Butkis, Jim Kelly, Hershall Walker, Tony Dorsett, Evander Holyfield, Earl Campbell, Roger Craig, Chris (HE COULD GO ALL THE WAY) Berman and Jerry Rice as a team of convicts that play an exhibition. This is a STUPID FUNNY MOVIE.  The team are underdogs and  their lack of talent prevents them from winning. Can these guys win a game or can they pull an 08 LIONS   ZING!!!! Wow that was a cheap-shot sorry Detroit. Here is a clip

Well not to many clips on YouTube of the movie but definitely Check this movie out is amazing.

SNEAK PEEK OF TOMMOROW’S REVIEW I’LL GIVE YOU A QUOTE FROM THE MOVIE COMBACK AND SEE IF YOU ARE RIGHT

THE WASHINGTON SENTINELS

Photobucket

The Replacements was a movie about a pro football leauge that goes on strike and the team hires replacement players. They go out and get a bunch of people who had football experience to play ball starring Gene Hackman as coach Jimmy Mcginty he goes out and gets former college stand out Shane Falco (Keeanu Reeves) who has had terrible games in his past and hasn’t been able to recover. Showing up was half the battle for these guys the other half was getting along with each other. The wind up getting an ex Irish Soccer player Nigel Gruff who has gambling problems, Andre and Jamal Johnson who are two big black brothers whom are the best offensive lineman well when there together with out each other they couldn’t make it, Danny Bateman (Jon Faverau) is a SWAT team officer who had three consecutive tours in the army and a hell of an attitude, Earl Wilkerson whom was  in jail and was put on work release to play under an assumed name, Jumbo who is a big fat Asian man who eats a dozen hard boiled eggs before the game as a snack and by the way he’s the center, Wide receiver Clifford Franklin who was sweeping the floors at a quick e mart and was discovered for his speed for chasing down candy bar thieves. These characters blend into a team unit and are now professionals. When they are able to get the team back into contention for the playoffs the owner Edward O’neil (Jack Warden) tells Mcginty to start their star quarterback that crossed the picket line instead of Falco. Now this team who hates this star quarterback have to try to get a team they will not be playing for next week into the playoffs. This Movie is so funny. It’s a crossover movie in my opinion. It’s not a true football movie and it’s not a true comedy but it’s really good. The first clip is my favorite scene in the movie

This movie is one you don’t have to think about whats going on you can just watch it and laugh. The movie has cameos by Al Micheals and John Madden. Why do you ask I put this movie up today well All this week FOOTBALL THEME WEEK on STUPID FUNNY MOVIE ROLES.  AS MANY OF YOU KNOW I AM A PITTSBURGH STEELERS FAN AND I AM SYKED FOR THE PLAYOFFS SUNDAY 4:30 PM ON CBS STEELERS VS CHARGERS.

My view on the playoffs I know this is a movie blog but hey I love sports too. The Steelers/Chargers game is the perfect scenario for Pittsburgh. San Diego my not dress Ladanian Tomlinson and if that’s the case the steelers run defense will lock on Sproles and effectively make Phillip Rivers try to throw on the top defense in the NFL. I’m glad that they aren’t playing the ravens because they are dangerous now and whoever wins that game vs the Titans is gonna be hurting that next week.

My Predictions this week

Steelers Over Chargers

Titans Over Ravens

Eagles Over Giants

AND MY SURPRISE OF THE WEEK

TAKE THEM CARDINALS OVER THE PANTHERS WARNERS GONNA HAVE A BIG WEEK

Til TOMMOROW REMEMBER

PAIN HEALS  CHICK’S DIG SCARS  GLORY LAST’S FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STEAMIN WILLIE BEAMEN

Photobucket

Jamie Foxx has done it all. He is a successful actor, musician and philanthropist. One character that stands out to me is Willie Beamen from Any Given Sunday. Any Given Sunday was one of the top 3 football movies ever made. The movie chronicles the Sharks who with head coach Tony D’amato (Al Pacino) are on the verge of missing the playoffs yet again. Team owner Christina Pagniacci (Cameron Diaz) is asserting herself as the dominant person in the organization. The cast in this movie includes James Woods, Matthew Modine, Dennis Quaid, LL Cool J, Jim Brown, Bill Bellamy, Ann Margert, and Aaron Eckhart. This movie gives the non sports fan a view of the dark and sidistic world of team sports. The disfunction followed by the function, followed by the cheats as well as the pure. Jamie Foxx’s character “Steamin” Willie Beamen gets his opportunity to start at quarterback when star quarterback Jack ‘Cap’ Rooney goes down with an injury. His nerves get the best of him at first and pukes on the field. As he settles in he becomes the superstar he knows that he is. A cocky arrogant SOB who is lovin life in Miami. He shootin music videos, shooting commercials and fame is building his ego. When Cap comes back from injury an interesting game of chess between the coach and the owner lead into disfunction to the seventh power. Check out this clip

The Inches Speech by Al Pacino Is one of the greatest inspirational speech ever. The movie stand the test of time and is intense as the first time I watched this movie. The movie is not just a sports movie but it is also a movie that shows the ups and downs of life. Because in either game life or football the margin of error is small.

‘On this Team We Fight For that Inch”

CHECK OUT THIS MOVIE IT IS A MUST SEE.
