Today is Saturday July 4th 2009 and for todays post I wanted to sit down and acknowledge a couple of groups of people we should thank today. All of us know the story of our country gaining it’s Independence. What we precive to be a holiday for fireworks and family barbeques is really meant to honor all of our past, present and future troops, idealists, firefighters, police, doctors, scholars, and well everyone. Back in the late 1700’s it was a time of worryness just like we our today. Then they were worried about being taxed and persecutrd as we are worried about today. Our president Barak Obama is doing the United States of America good. We are slowly turning out of economical hardships and handling our borders and combat zones in order. A couple of weeks we will hopefully be out of Iraq and right now we need to focus on us. So I salute the guy working two minimum wage jobs to support his family, the guy who pumps your gas (JERSEY), the waitress and batrtenders that serve you. The kid down the street that mows your lawn for 5 bucks so he can get some candy thats what this holidays all about. We need to teach the next generation that we are just like are founding fathers and they will face different but equally the same challenges in thier lifetime. in the words of Bon Jovi ” We got to hold on to what we got, it doesn’t matter if we make it or not, we’ve got eaach other, And that’s a lot for love we’ll give it a shot” why this lyric i quote because most of us out thier our Living on a Prayer
Happy Fourth OF JULY TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Grand is a poker movie that spoofs all things about the poker world. With actors such as Woody Harrelson, David Cross, Cheryl Hines, Gabe Kaplan as well as poker pros like Phil Hellmuth, Phil Laak, and Doyle Brunson. The movie surronds a bunch of charecters that are aspiring to become the champion of the most prestigious poker tournament of the year. Woody Harrelson plays Jack Sparrow a loser in bets and is the owner of the Rabbits Foot Casino where the tournament is held. He enters the tournament to try to save the casino. The movie is not a great movie worthy of awards but is a synical look at a communiy that prides itself in serious nature. David Cross is hilarious in the movie and is quite honestly the best part of the movie. He plays Larry Schwartzman his sister Lainne “cheryl Hines” is a fellow professional who is favored by their father Gabe Kaplan. Cross is quirky and down right wrong. That being said It’s a definat see on cable for free. Don’t rent it unless you wanna waist 5 bucks that you could be spending toward see The New York Islanders and the number 1 draft pick John Tavares. I must say the Isles are back and will bring a cup home to Long Island sooner rather than later
Let’s Go ISLANDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever gone to a movie and say to yourself after saying “I forgot what that movie was about.” I recently conducted a study of movie goers and the results were overwhelming. 20percent of the people that came out of an action movie were amped up. I thought the percent was low. 50 percent were indifferent and the other thirty percent well either left early or didn’t like the experience. Now in comedies 65 percent came out laughing, chucking and talking to others. The rest were indifferent or disliked the movie.
What does this mean? The trends in modern day movies have changed. And guess what they will change again and again and again. In the late 80’s the fad was teenage comedies(Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles), the 90’s were action films (Die Hard and Speed) at the turn of the millenium it was all about animation. Today I noticed that the comedy is making a comeback. People want to laugh even when time are bad. Can we forget about are problems for two hours and watch a funny movie. If everyone did that we would all be less stressed out and if we are less stressed we can turn around our problems and strive to be better not only as individuals, not only as americans, but as a whole human race.
Well anyways enough of my deep thoughts go out to movie or a video store or ppv/cable find a movie and zen. til next time

Over the past mont things have been hectic and haven’t been able to keep up with the blog but I assure you I am back. Today I need to get some stuff off my chest so here we go. Congrats to the Caps for beating the Rangers in the first round of the playoffs. They played a great series and Simeon Varlomov looks like he will be a number one goalie for the caps for years to come. Secondly I found out that my wife is having a baby girl. She is due any day now. We are gonna name her Zoe. I am excited. I can see her in hockey gear mixing it up. A dad can only dream. Watched a weird movie with Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis, Jim Carrey and Damien Waynes called Earth girls are Easy. Yesterday also was able to catch the end of Remember the Titans and 21. 21 was decent but not as good as the hype led it to belive. I have a new job as an admin assitant and will hopefully when i get down time be able to write some more for the site so you have fresh content on a daily basis even if I am busy. Also must say congrats to the Islanders for winning the lottery. Hopefully Garth now will do the right thing and draft John Tavares. He is a force to be reckon with and would look great in an Islanders Jersey. Screw you Charles Wang. You paraded yourself in front of the media and said i shouldn’t have bought the Islanders. I say nice commitment a hole go write a computer program or something. You are a stooge and a no talent ass clown and you can quote me on that anyhood;es will be back tommorow with a post more geared to movies. Watch over the top great movie. as always check me out on facebook too. search for [Marc Crystal]

I was shocked. While flipping channels today I saw a movie I have not seen in years was on. This movie is one of my favorite movies of all tim. Heavyweights was a kids movie made in the 90’s It’s a movie about a bunch of fat kids who go to a summer camp. Bankruptcy forces the camp owners to sell the camp to a businessman who wants to turn the camp into a weight loss center so he can make money off of the kids. The movie is underated. The movie has Ben stiller playing Tony Perkis the new camp owner who wants to make an infomercial. The movie is not an Oscar type movie but it is a funny kids movie. One of my favorite songs is playing in the opening “Closer To Free” by The Bodeans. The movie has most of the kids that were in the mighty ducks movies. Most notably Keenan Thompson who currently now on SNL. If you were a kid growing up in the 90’s you loved this movie. Go to the store and check it out it is an amazing movie and it definitely withstands the test of time. Til tomorrow “Everybody wants to be cl0ser to free”

As a New York Islanders fan I knew in December that the Islanders wouldn’t make the playoffs. The National Hockey League playoffs are the most exciting games around. The intensity in the games are really high. The feeling that comes over you when you are at a playoff game is thrilling. There is nothing better than watching a game seven between two great teams fighting it out for the sports most coveted prize. The Stanley Cup has been raised by such greats as Maurice “Rocket” Richard, Mark Messier, Bobby Orr, Mike Bossy, and Wayne Gretzky to name a few. It’s about a group of players working hard day in and day out working to obtain one goal. There can be years when you pack your bags early and then there are years that can immortalize you as a legend. The playoffs start Wednesday and I can’t wait. Even though the Islanders will not be playing, I will be routing for Alexander Ovechkin and the Caps. Alex Ovechkin is making a case to be the greatest of all time. He has a long way to go and could be considered a future hall of famer based on his body of work so far. The Penguins are another team in the east to watch. Sidney Crosby is an amazing talent and with goalie Marc Andre Fleury this could be the year the cup goes to the Steel city. Many Canadian teams are in the playoffs Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary are all trying to bring the cup over the border. The Rangers (WHO SUCK) have a very talented goalie in Henrik Lunquisdt and if they get hot they can take the cup back to the big apple. Boston is a good story and with a solid core they could bring the hardware to bean town. Five of the six original franchises made the playoffs. San Jose won the presidents trophy and with the most points in the league have to be considered a contender This is how I think the finals will be between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Washington Capitals lets see if I’m right.

Many movies are made and a lot of them create one or two unforgettable lines. Writers and directors come up with impact lines that define a movie and those lines defin a generation of film and cinema. Some lines are seriuos some are goofy. Movies by Mel Brooks have many unforgettable lines. I was watching Blazing Saddles over the weekend and it inspired this post. Here are 10 of my favorite movies and my favorite line in each movie enjoy. (Not In Any Particular Order)
1)Blazing Saddles-”Whats That in Your Mouth” “Nuthim” “Nuthim ehy it’s Chewing gum I hope you brought enough for everybody”
2)Beerfest- “They make 10.000 bottles a day 45 walk off the assembly line I’m the asshole
3)Armed and Dangerous-”GIVE ME A QUARTER IT HELPS ME THINKS”
4)Rookie Of The Year- “Give em the high stinky cheddar”
5)Ace Ventura-”Do you have a mint perhaps some binaca”
6)Office Space-”PC LOAD LETTER WHAT THE F*^$ DOES THAT MEAN
7)Little Giants- “I use these for acid indegestion” “what are we gonna use them for” “INTIMADATION
8)Harold and Kumar “Did Doogie Hauser just steal my car”
9)Groundhog day-NED REYERSON BING!!!!!!!!!
10)Rounders- “It hurts dosen’t it your hopes and dreams dashed your fate sits right beside you that Ace could not have helped you I bet it all” “Your right teddy the ace didn’t help me I flopped the nut strait.
These are a few lines I could go on forever. These are a few of my favorites. I always loved stupid comedies. Til next time see ya later

While I was on a brief hiatous from writing I watched many movies. One of them being a movie called The Grand. It’s a movie about poker and the hilarious outings of the poker community. Actors in the movie include Woody Harrelson, Cherly Hines, David Cross, Ray Romano, Gabe Kaplan, Micheal McKeon, Jason Alexander and Hank Azaria. The movie is a spoofy movie. It’s stupid funny and ridiculous. There are many poker pros in the movie. Pro’s like Daniel Negranu, Phil Gordon, Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Phil Laak. The movie was not worthy of an oscar but it was mildly amusing. Other poker movies like Rounders are more in the drama aspect as this one is a spoof. Woody Harrelson plays a casino owner who has a bad srug problem and is in trouble of losing his casino. I am a huge poker fan I love the game and it is a growing phenomenon if you never played poker I suggest you do because it is the most fun you will have. Have fun get out there and check The PPA (Poker Players Alliance) join the cause.

When I was a kid growing up in the early 90’s I grew up with some of te greatest kids movies ever. Today I will discuss a few of them and hopefully rekindle some memories for you and as always be sure to check these movies out if you haven’t seen them. I don’t suggest heeping piles of crap so on that note. Here we go. First off the movie Heavyweights is a classic. Ben Stiller is a genious as Tony Perkis. He plays a guy who takes over a camp that is for overweight boys and hopes to make the boys for a infomercial. Great child actors and a lot of funny quirky charecters made this a must see movie every time it was on. Angels in the Outfield with Danny Glover and Tony Danza play as the lowly California ngels who are blessed by Angels after a kid wishes to be reunited with his father and the only way that would happen is of the Angels one. Great family movie lots of fun. Home Alone series was so funny. The criminials Joe Peci and Daniel Stern were great. Little Macualy Caulkin great performance. The Mighty Duck movies as a hockey fan were amazing to me. All of the kids that weren’t great turned into a great team and win because of a special coach (Emilo Estevez) There are so many more that I can think of but the last one for Today is Rookie Of The Year. Spring Training is just about over and the Major Leauge Baseball. Rookie of the year stars Thomas Ian Nicholas as Henry Rowengartner eho is a regular kid who breas his arm trying to impress a girl. His arm heals wrong and he is now able to pitch like a major leauger while he’s twelve. He plays for the cubs. He learns a lot about life and friends. Great movies all of them check it out. And here is a bonus Tony Danza flick go see “The Garbage Pickin Field Goal Kickin Phildelphia Phenomenon” SAY THAT THREE TIMES FAST GO!!!!!!!!!!

Saved by the Bell is one of my favorite shows of all time. Growing up as a kid in the 90’s every saturday morning that was a part of life. I felt that Zack, Slater, Screech, Kelly, Jesse and Lisa were my friends. The phenomenon of this series spawned off the college years as well as the new class. Lost in the episodes are the saved by the bell movies. Like The Wedding In Vegas, and the Hawaian Getaway. Zack and Kelly always wound up together. It only seemed fitting that they would get married. I loved the show and am a big fan. My favorite episode of Saved By The Bell is when Zack convinces the gang that Slaters got a diesease and needs to move to Hawaii for the cure. Funny as are all the episodes. I know everything about the show and consider my self as the Saved By The Bell guru. Iknow the names of all of the teachers, locker numbers, episode names, guest stars and much much more. Saved By The Bell has to be one ofthe best teenage sitcoms of all time. Currently the series is syndicated on tbs weekday mornings between 7 AM- 9 AM.
